A SPECIAL WORLD EXPO GUIDED TOUR:
THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO
6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6

World Expo Committee member Joe Berton and his wife Gloria Groom, chair of European painting and sculpture at the Art Institute, have arranged for Expo attendees to get a guided tour of this incredible, world-famous institution. They and additional curators will give you a guided tour highlighting the Art Institute’s collection, including the Impressionist paintings and the newly reinstalled galleries of medieval art, arms, and armor. The museum also holds the collection of the Thorne rooms, with over 80 miniature rooms of astonishing beauty and detail. The tour will last approximately one hour, with the remainder of the time available for attendees to explore more of the museum’s treasures on their own, until it closes at 8 p.m. Admission is limited, so sign up now! (Located at 111 S. Michigan Ave., the Art Institute is a 10-minute walk directly north from the Hilton Hotel. Tour attendees should gather at 5:45 p.m. on the outdoor stairs by the lion statue on Michigan Avenue.)
